“The first time I saw a live demonstration of the NoteBond device, I was amazed at how immediate the activation was and its effectiveness. I walked away confident that this type of product has the ability to change the way we store and protect our bank notes.”

What is NoteBond?
There has been an alarming increase in the number of ATM attacks in the past few years. These attacks may be:
-
‘Drag-outs’ – These are the most common and often involve using agricultural or construction equipment
-
Force - Including cutting, ram raids and gas attacks, or
-
Other methods – for example, attempting to access the notes via the note dispenser
Often the loss to the ATM operator is not just the monetary value, but also the more significant cost of the damage to infrastructure.
Developed as a theft deterrent, NoteBond™ can be described as a revolution in banknote protection. NoteBond™ has taken up the big problem of the cash industry and made it its mission to go one step further and prevent any banknote theft from machines in the future.

The concept of the system is very simple:
Prevent the notes being usable by criminals, whilst still allowing them to be reimbursed by the Central Bank. The destruction of the notes is the best possible deterrent to criminals. However, this is of little comfort to the ATM operator if they are unable to be reimbursed if the notes are recovered.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our patented glue delivery system (NoteBond) – the system has been designed, from the ground up, to deploy the glue accurately and reliably across very specific areas of the notes. The glue bonds the two edges of the stack of notes within the cassette, but leaves the centre of the stack unbonded. This will prevent the notes being used by criminals, but their value may still be reclaimed from the relevant Central Bank by the ATM owner if the notes are recovered. It is also possible to add dye and DNA to the glue for subsequent identification.
The glue is also almost entirely retained within the cassette, which makes getting the ATM back online much quicker and easier.

The detection system (NBC-19) – we have developed our own, bespoke, electronic detection system. This system maintains the device in an inert state until activated in the event of a number of triggers, including:
Tilting, gas, jamming the note delivery window, forcing the safe door, heat, drilling and opening outside of the normal parameters.
Crucially, the system is also able to be remote monitored to either notify of any potential activations, remote activate, or simply to confirm the status of the device;

The Glue – we have developed a very specific bonding agent, which:
-
Can be stored for long periods of time
-
Has the appropriate viscosity to quickly permeate between the notes, and yet bond quickly
-
Bonds both polymer and fabric notes
-
Cannot be removed without making the notes unusable
BENEFITS OF THE SYSTEM
- The ability to reclaim the value of the notes is unique within the market and ensures that, provided the notes are recovered, the ATM owner is not out of pocket and the criminal gains no benefit. This is also particularly useful in the event of an accidental activation.
- Unlike many ink systems, the glue remains almost entirely within the cassette. This minimises damage to the ATM machine and its surrounding environment, and it also allows the ATM to be returned to service quickly.
- The detection system can be retro-fitted to any ATM machine and positioned to ensure minimal intrusion.
- The glue delivery system within the cassette itself has been specifically designed to take up minimal space within the cassette to minimise impact on the fill-rate of the cassette.
- DNA or Dye can be added to the glue to allow identification of recovered notes.
- We have received confirmation from Central Banks that they are able to identify and repatriate the value of notes recovered.
FAQs
Will NoteBond work on the new polymer notes?
Yes, the NoteBond device was designed to work with both paper and polymer notes.
Can a dye be added to the bonding fluid?
Yes. However, currently this option is only available upon special request.
How are the devices maintained?
We can provide several maintenance options to ensure the device is working correctly, to test/replace the battery and also to check/replace the bonding agent, these are typically 12-18 months after install.
Is the bonding fluid harmful?
The fluid itself is classified as an irritant only. Once cured, a process taking only a matter of minutes, the result is that it becomes an inert mass and is again non harmful.
Can the fluid be ‘washed off’ the notes?
No, the notes are completely fused together. The chemicals needed to remove the fluid completely destroy the notes.
Can the notes be redeemed by the central bank?
The reason we leave part of the notes free is for the purpose of redemption. Early discussions with Central Banks are encouraging with several suggesting they would support the redemption of notes as long as NoteBond meets numerous requirements - these have been explored and agreed.
How is the device powered?
The device has a long life battery. These are checked and tested during the maintenance of the device.
Do the bonded notes contain a Marker or Tag?
Yes. However, currently this option is only available upon special request.
Can the notes be peeled away?
No, all tests have resulted in the destruction of the notes.
There are other ‘glue like’ products on the market, what makes the NoteBond device different?
Other glue type products simply fuse the entire contents together as one solid block, with no control over the pattern of deployment. NoteBond’s unique and patented activation of the bonding fluid efficiently fuses key areas of the notes together, allowing them to be counted and authenticated whilst safe to handle.
We have worked closely over the years with both customers and central banks to ensure that we have developed a product which is extremely effective, whilst being easy and cost effective to install and operate.
We are incredibly excited about our NoteBond™ device and we would love to share more information about the system with you.
